I thought about this song a lot when I was younger. All these important people and events- some that disappeared into the sands of time- others that changed the world forever. So much has happened in the span of the last 34 years- we felt like a little system update might be fun. Hope you like our take on it…

I fact checked this. While Patrick is technically telling the truth that Spin clipped his quote out of context to those words verbatim, they absolutely were not asking about Fall Out Boy for no reason. The part about this upsetting Pete is false. Pete was already upset.
Spin was asking about Fall Out Boy because Pete Wentz had Tweeted and posted on his blog less than 48 hours prior that he was never playing in Fall Out Boy again, and that Fall Out Boy might carry on without him, and that he was not planning on living very long.
Then Andy followed it up with a Tweet saying āNothing is official.ā MTV News, The Guardian, Entertainment Weekly, NME, and other outlets reported on it.
Also, while itās true Patrick was interested in talking about his solo music with Spin, Soul Punk was not released until October of 2011. The Truant Wave EP was also not released until February of 2011. The interview was conducted in February 2010, a year prior to Patrick releasing any solo music and only four months after FOB announced their hiatus.
Pete also did not get divorced until a year later in February 2011.
Yāknow I reblogged this a bit ago and was saved from financial probation and getting kicked out of school because of it, just mere months from graduation. Got a call from the financial aid advisor telling me that they made a mistake with filing my account (or some other sort of clerical error) and said that, basically, they owe me money. Welp.
Last time I reblogged the money cat, I won two $100 gift cards at work.
Since I recently got a number of questions about Fall Out Boy’s songwriting process, particularly with regard to the lyrics on Save Rock and Roll, I figured I’d throw in Joe’s response to a Reddit AMA from last year. I’m including the full thing because it’s interesting, but specifically with regard to lyric duty: “Lyrics are a Pete thing that get handled by Patrick.” I think that’s a really good description of their process, as I understand it.
